Privacy Policy

ToolNest is designed to minimize unnecessary collection of user data. This policy explains how files, browser data, cookies, analytics and advertising technologies may be handled when you use the website.

1. Browser-side file processing

Many ToolNest utilities are designed to process files directly in your browser. When a tool clearly states that processing is local or browser-side, the selected file is not intentionally uploaded to our application server for that operation. Browser-side processing can include JavaScript, Canvas, WebAssembly and other browser technologies.

2. When files may require remote processing

If a future feature cannot reasonably run in the browser and requires server-side processing, ToolNest will aim to disclose that behavior on the relevant tool page before the user submits a file. We do not intend to silently represent an uploaded workflow as local processing.

3. Passwords and sensitive inputs

Passwords entered into browser-side PDF tools are intended to be used only for the requested operation on the user’s device. Users should never send document passwords through contact forms or support messages. Highly sensitive or regulated files should be handled using software and procedures approved by the user’s organization.

4. Technical information and logs

Like most websites, hosting and security infrastructure may process routine technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the service. This may include IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, requested URLs, approximate region and diagnostic or security logs.

5. Analytics

If analytics services are enabled, they may collect information about page views, device type, browser, referral source, approximate location and interactions with the website. Analytics is used to understand performance and improve the service. Where legally required, analytics storage and related technologies will be subject to consent controls.

6. Advertising and Google AdSense

ToolNest may use Google AdSense or other advertising services after the public launch. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Google’s advertising cookies may allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on a user’s visits to this website and/or other websites, subject to applicable law, account settings and consent choices.

7. Personalized advertising choices

Users can manage personalized advertising choices through Google Ads Settings and may also have browser, device or regional consent controls available to them. Where ToolNest is required to obtain consent before using advertising cookies or similar storage, a compliant consent mechanism will be used before the relevant technologies are activated.

8. European privacy and consent

When advertising is enabled for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, ToolNest intends to use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform where required by Google’s publisher policies. Consent choices may affect personalized advertising, advertising storage, analytics storage and related processing.

9. Cookies and local storage

ToolNest may use local storage for interface preferences such as theme selection. Advertising, analytics and other third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies when activated. More detail is provided in the Cookie Policy.

10. Third-party services

The website may rely on third-party infrastructure such as hosting, content delivery networks, fonts, analytics, advertising or browser libraries. Those providers may process technical information according to their own privacy policies and the configuration used by ToolNest.

11. External links

Articles and tools may link to external websites. ToolNest does not control the privacy practices, security or content of third-party destinations. Users should review the policies of those sites when they leave ToolNest.

12. Data retention

Browser-side file operations are intended to avoid storing source files on our application server. Technical logs, analytics data, advertising data or support correspondence may have different retention periods depending on the provider, legal requirements and operational need.

13. Children’s privacy

ToolNest is a general-purpose utility website and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through accounts or profiles. The website currently does not require users to create an account to use its core tools.

14. Security

We aim to use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the website, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Users should keep original backups and avoid processing highly sensitive files through tools that are not approved for their specific security requirements.

15. Policy updates

This policy may change as ToolNest adds analytics, advertising, new tools, consent technology or additional features. The current published version will describe the practices intended for the live service.

16. Contact

Privacy questions can be sent through the Contact page. Do not attach confidential documents, passwords or sensitive personal records when contacting support.
